Key data of the new build

Production hall, office building, and covered trucking yard

Construction time:

About 14 months, estimated completion in March or April, 2012

Construction costs:

About CHF 51 million

Outline of building Specifications

The entire main structure will be split into basically two uses: a six-floor office section(basement, ground floor, and 1st trough 4th floors) and a three-floor production hall (basement, ground floor, and 1st floor).
The basement of the production hall is equal in height to the basement of the office section; the ground floor of the production hall occupies the entire structural height of three office floors (ground floor, 1st floor, and 2nd floor). The uneven rooflines of the office section and production hall are due to the permissible building heights and the terrain dropping away to the southeast.
The underground area being built during phase 1 of the main structure (submitted as a separate, general construction request on  June 4, 2010) is designed as a parking garage.

Parking garage           External ramp

Office building

Vertical connections   Stairwells / escape stairs
2 passenger elevators per core zone
1 passenger elevator in northeast core zone

4. Building shell / insulation

Production hall

The entire building shell is designed generally on the Minergie standard.
Façade               Post-and-beam glazing
                          Sandwich elements
Roof                    Insulation and roofing still to be chosen
                          Protective layer extensively landscaped
Photovoltaics       Use of the maximum possible area of the roof

Office building

The entire building shell is designed generally on the Minergie standard. The shell of the office section consists of glass in two different applications: recessed transparent surfaces made up of post-and-beam glazing, and opaque structural components with a glass curtain façade.

5. Building services

Entire building

In general, every effort has been made to use ground water to heat the buildings, as well as provide cooling for the building services and industrial operations. As much as possible, the heat generated by industrial operations will be recovered for building services' use.

6. Expansion

Entire building In general, a simple and functional expansion.

7. Operating Facilities

Entire building

The facilities are currently being developed in-house project teams.
